Converting Gregorian Dates to Kluznickian Dates
Gregorian Day Numbers
  1. Go to the Gregorian day number table below and go down the day-of-the-month
    (DOM) column until you get to the day of interest.
  2. Then go across to the desired month column and read the Gregorian day number.
  3. If the date of interest occurred on a leap year* and the date is March 1 or later, then
    add one more day to get the right Gregorian day number for a leap year.
  4. Add 11, to account for the Kluznickian 11 day change of the date of the winter
    solstice.  
  5. For non leap years*, If the sum is greater than 365, subtract 365; or for leap years*, if
    the sum is greater than 366, subtract 366.  This is now the Kluznickian day number
    for the following year.  
  6. Go to the Kluznickian table, find the same day number and then read the month, the
    day of the month, and the day of the week that corresponds to that day number.  For
    example, the Gregorian date of 1994-12-25 transposes to a Kluznickian date of 1995-
    1-5, a Friday.

*  Gregorian leap years occur on years that are multiples of 4, except century years.    
Century years are not leap years except those that are multiples of 400.  
    (For comparison, the Kluznickian leap year rule is: Years that are multiples of 4 are
    leap years except those the are also multiples of 128.)

For example, to convert your son's birthday on Aug 13 of 2003, you will find the Gregorian
day number to be 225.  Since 2003 was not a leap year* you do not have to add another
one.  Add 11 to get the Kluznickian day number of 236.  Next go to the Kluznickian table
and locate day number 236 and read the date to be Friday, Aug. 12.  If his birthday had
been Aug 13 of 2004 then, since 2004 was a leap year, you would add one more day to
the Gregorian day number to get 226, then add 11 to get a Kluznickian day number of 237,
and then find the corresponding Kluznickian date to be Saturday, Aug 13.  (It is a rare
occurrence for the Kluznickian date to be the same as the Gregorian date).

An alternative to the above is to download an Excel file that will do the conversion for you
and also give you the day of the week for any Gregorian date.  To download, click on:
