CREW POSITIONS:         
*1* Bow man.         *4* Bridge deck
*2* Mast man         *5* Main sheet.
*3* Tailer.              *6* Helmsman.



SPINNAKER SET

A.  Before the mark:
*1* Connect sheets and halyard to spinnaker. Secure umbilical.
*3* Set snatch blocks to the spinnaker position.
*3* Set after guy in the snatch block if going on a beam reach.
*4/2* Lift pole. Set pole height and lock car line on mast.
*4* Wrap after guy on winch; set winch handle.
*4/2* Prefeed the spinny tack.
*4* Prefeed the spinny halyard.
*5* Set the vang.

B.  At the mark:
*6* Round mark and fall off.
*5* Ease the main sheet.
*4* Ease the jib sheet, lock it off, and ready the spinnaker sheet.
*4* Raise spinnaker halyard while mark is being rounded.
*1* Make sure that the spinny doesn't hang up under the jib.  
*2* Help raise the spinnaker.
*3* Crank the pole back, cleat it and set the fore guy.
*2* Help get the pole back.
*5* Set and fly the spinnaker until *3* can take over.

C.  After the set:
*4* Release the jib halyard.
*1/2* Drop and stow jib at the ready.
*4* Ease the main halyard and Cunningham.
*6* Ease the back stay.
*4* Take up jib halyard slack.
*3* Take over the spinnaker sheet.
*2* Release the flattener.
*4* Reset the vang.
*1* Move umbilical to bow pulpit.
*2* Retrieve the turtle.

D.  Thereafter:
*3* Fly the spinnaker.
*5* Trim the pole after guy and fore guy per *3*.
*2* Adjust the pole height per *3*.
*4* Trim the pole lift per *3*.
*4* Crank for *3*.
*5* Trim the main sheet, traveler, and vang.


SPINNAKER JIBE

CREW POSITIONS:         
*1* Bow man.         *4* Bridge deck
*2* Mast man         *5* Main sail trimmer.
*3* Tailer.          *6* Helmsman.

A.  Before the jibe:
*2* Put new after guy in snatch block if going onto reach after jibe.
*5* Lock the traveler amidship, in both directions.
*4* Set the boom break.
*4* Assume spinnaker pole trim and ease the forage about a foot.
*3* Move to the leeward side of the cockpit.
*2* Standby to jibe the pole.
*1* Standby on the lee side of the mast to put the sheet into the pole once the pole is off  
the mast.

B.  Jibbing:
*6* Start jibe.
*3/4* Keep the spinnaker trimmed to the wind while the boat is coming around.
*2* Jibe the pole. When complete, holler "Made!" in a loud voice.
*4* As soon as the pole is off the mast, bring in the new spinnaker sheet 1 to 2 feet to
keep the chute from collapsing or wrapping.  Do not let the sheet out thereafter until the
jibe is complete and the pole is reset and readjusted.
*3* When *2* is trying to get the pole onto the mast, ease the new after guy a foot or two,
three max.
*6* Steer to keep the boat under the chute.

C.  Just after the spinnaker jibe:
*5* Upon hearing "Made!" sheet in the main and jibe it.
*6* Assume new course.
*3* As the boat turns, crank the pole back to keep it trim to the wind, then cleat it and set
the fore guy.
*4* As the boat turns, let the new sheet out to keep the chute trim.  
*4* Fly the chute until *3* is ready.
*1* Help get the pole back.
*2* Release the old after guy from the snatch block if appropriate.
*1* "Jibe" the jib if appropriate.

D.  Thereafter:
*3* Fly the spinnaker.
*5* Trim the pole after guy and fore guy per *3*.
*2* Adjust the pole height per *3*.
*4* Trim the pole lift per *3*.
*4* Crank for *3*.
*5* Trim the main sheet, traveler, and vang.


SPINNAKER TAKE-DOWN

CREW POSITIONS:
*1* Bow man.         *4* Bridge deck
*2* Mast man         *5* Main sail trimmer.
*3* Tailer.          *6* Helmsman.

A.  Before the take-down:
*2* Set the flattener. (Call for vang and boom break slack.)
*4* Reset the main halyard and Cunningham tension.
*6* Reset the backstay tension.
*5* Get the jib sheet ready.
*1* Get the jib ready to go up.
*1* Get the umbilical cord ready.
*2* Check the setting of the jib cars.

B.  Set the jib:
*4* Hoist the jib and set the tension exactly as before.
*5* Set the jib sheet and lock it off.

C.  Take-down:
*6* Start rounding the mark.
*6* Let the pole forward and lock off the guy.
*3* Bring in the spinnaker sheet and lock it off.
*4* Throw off the spinnaker halyard.
*2* Pull in the spinnaker via the umbilical cord or leach.
*5* Trim the main sheet and traveler.
*4* Wrap the jib sheet onto the winch and trim the jib.
*6* Release the after guy.
*4* Release the spinnaker sheet.
*1* Help *2* stuff the chute down the hatch.

D.  After take-down:
*All except 2* Go to the high side ASAP.
*2* Clip spinnaker sheets together (and halyard too if applicable).
*1* Stow pole on high side.
*2* Clear and stow halyard on mast.
*2* Band and pack the spinnaker.
